Shelly R. Pagac Presented at the PHRA Annual Conference

PITTSBURGH, PA- Shelly R. Pagac, partner in the law firm of Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP, presented at the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association Annual Conference on October 8, 2014 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Ms. Pagac addressed the topic of “WHEN CAN AN EMPLOYER TERMINATE AN EMPLOYEE FOR COMMENTS MADE ON A SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE?” Along with in-house attorney Jessica Lynch from Alcoa, and in-house attorney Shannon Paliotta from the University of Pittsburgh, the panel discussed when employers can terminate and/or discipline employee for comments made on social networking sites.

Ms. Pagac devotes her practice to employment law and has been counseling, training, and defending employers since 1988. She has litigated cases in all areas of employment law, has tried a number of cases to verdict, and is a trained mediator. Ms. Pagac is a frequent speaker on employment law topics.

Ms. Pagac graduated from the Pennsylvania State University, and the Catholic University School of Law in Washington, D.C., where she was Note and Comment Editor of the Health Law Review. She served on the Board of Directors for Pittsburgh Action Against Rape from 2008 through 2014. In addition, she currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

She is a Fellow of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation and the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation. She is a member of the invitation only Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, and is currently Chair of the organization’s Federal Program Committee. Ms. Pagac was the recipient of the prestigious Philip Werner Amran Award in 2011 which is given to only one recipient a year and recognizes professional excellence and service to the community.
