The Pittsburgh office is seeking a highly motivated and industrious attorney to work in the firm’s Estate & Trust Litigation; Estate Planning and Administration practice group.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft substantive pleadings, including complaints, objections, petitions, motions, responses, briefs, and correspondence for contested estate, trust, and fiduciary litigation matters.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda addressing probate, fiduciary, trust, guardianship, and Orphans’ Court issues.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, subpoenas, and requests for admissions.
  • Represent clients in Orphans’ Court proceedings, hearings, mediations, depositions, and related court appearances.
  • Assist with all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, discovery management, witness preparation, and trial preparation.
  • Handle disputes involving wills, trusts, fiduciary administration, capacity, undue influence, guardianships, accounting actions, and beneficiary disputes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, fiduciaries, beneficiaries, financial professionals, and opposing counsel regarding litigation strategy and case developments.
  • Prepare settlement agreements and assist with negotiation and alternative dispute resolution efforts.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals in the administration of complex estates and trusts when litigation issues arise.
  • Maintain organized case management practices and ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and filing requirements.

The ideal candidate must have the following skills for consideration: 

  • At least 3–5 years of substantive litigation experience, preferably within estates, trusts, probate, or fiduciary litigation.
  • Experience with discovery practice, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances required.
  • Experience handling contested matters in Orphans’ Court preferred.
  • Familiarity with estate and trust administration preferred.
  • Experience with guardianship litigation, will contests, trust disputes, fiduciary surcharge actions, or related probate litigation preferred.
  • Excellent academic credentials, along with strong analytical, research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and colleagues.

The Pittsburgh office is seeking a highly motivated and industrious attorney to work in the firm’s Litigation Defense practice group.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare appropriate responsive pleadings.
  • Conduct investigations of facts.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery and handle depositions of parties and witnesses.
  • Draft litigation plans and budgets.
  • Research and brief writing on preliminary objections and motion for summary judgment.
  • Prepare and carry out discovery plans.
  • Regularly communicate with supervising attorneys regarding status of cases and recommendations.
  • Attend hearings and arguments.
  • Assist in locating and interviewing experts.
  • Assist in interviewing clients and witnesses.
  • Review and analysis of medical records, project files, coordinate responses to electronically filed information.

The Pittsburgh office has an opening for a billing coordinator. The candidate will be responsible for handling all accounts payable to a company by supervising invoicing and communicating directly with clients. Billing coordinators make sure that all customers are charged appropriately by keeping thorough records of all payments and bills.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with Partners, support staff, & clients as needed regarding billing and payment issues.
  • Disburse retainer funds and send out correspondence to clients regarding the same.
  • Process pre-bills (including but not limited to editing, adding time).
  • Prepare and submit invoices electronically or by mail.
  • Responsible for editing and generating invoices for electronic billing systems such as TyMetrix 360, LegalX, BottomLine Technologies, Mitratech and CounselLink.
  • Perform conflicts checks and opening files.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Establish durable power of attorney and medical durable power of attorney.
  • Work with a financial professional to find ways to reduce and avoid estate tax when possible.
  • Find ways to avoid the probate court process.
  • Set up trusts to protect client assets.
  • Administer estates of varying sizes with strong paralegal assistance.

  • At least 5-10 years’ of substantive experience in estate planning and estate administration.
  • Experience in estate planning and administration required.

This position will support attorneys in all phases of civil litigation, with a focus on plaintiff-side personal injury and product liability matters.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Order, track, and organize medical records and itemized billing statements.
  • Review records for completeness, accuracy, and relevance to injuries.
  • Summarize medical treatment, diagnoses, and timelines.
  • Analyze medical bills, liens, and insurance payments.
  • Prepare medical chronologies and specials summaries.
  • Managing the lifecycle of active matters/cases and monitoring case progress.
  • Deposition and trial preparation by way of:
  • Conducting legal research for litigation or legal briefs;
  • Identifying, compiling, researching, and analyzing information prior to preparing reports and exhibits;
  • Preparing case files, binders, summaries, and other paper/electronic case materials such as witness binders, pre-trial binders, and compilation of trial exhibits; and

Administrative Assistant

The Weirton office is seeking an Administrative Assistant with exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. This individual will have the day-to-day responsibility for organizing, indexing, maintaining and retrieving information relative to, and in support of, the firm’s practices.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Entering time and submitting expenses for attorneys.
  • Maintaining attorney calendars and travel arrangements.
  • Reviewing and editing prebills per client guidelines.
  • Saving and filing all correspondence to both physical and electronic files.
  • Sorting a regular flow of documents by case and by document type.
  • Preparing file folders, creating indexes, and databases for the management of large cases.
  • Labeling, indexing, and preparing records for storage.
  • Coordinating with secretaries, attorneys, and paralegals for the groups filing system.
  • Anticipating upcoming case events, i.e. scheduled depositions and updating the files accordingly for attorney review.
