PITTSBURGH, PA- Shelly R. Pagac, partner in the Pittsburgh office of Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP, is the recipient of the Nora Barry Fischer Award for 2014. The Nora Barry Fischer Award serves to recognize an attorney within the Firm who has given back to the legal profession and the community at large.
Ms. Pagac has shown great commitment to both the legal profession and the community through her involvement in numerous organizations. She is currently serving on the Board of Governors for the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Ms. Pagac previously served on the Board of Governors of the Allegheny County Bar Association from 2006-2011, is a Fellow of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation, and a fellow of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation. Ms. Pagac is also a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. Membership is by invitation only and is limited to 250 lawyers who are dedicated to preserving the jury system and the independence of the judiciary. She currently serves as the chair of the Academy’s Federal Program Committee.
Ms. Pagac also served on the Board of Directors for Pittsburgh Action Against Rape, a victim’s rights organization, from 2008 through 2014. She currently mentors students from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, through the Black Law Students Association. She is also an active supporter of Quantum Theatre, a non-profit theatre in Pittsburgh experimenting in uncommon venues.
