PITTSBURGH, PA – James W. Kraus, Kevin E. Raphael, and Martin T. Durkin, Jr. of Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP will present at the Defense Research Institute’s second annual Government Enforcement and Corporate Compliance Seminar on July 24-25, 2014 in Washington, DC.
DRI is the international membership organization of all lawyers in the defense of civil litigation and is committed to enhancing the skills, effectiveness, and professionalism of defense lawyers while improving the civil justice system and preserving the civil jury. The seminar will cover an array of government enforcement issues, offering both practical guidance and legal updates for those operating, or representing clients, in an increasingly difficult regulatory environment.
As Chair of DRI’s Government Enforcement and Corporate Compliance Committee, Mr. Kraus will make opening remarks and introductions. Mr. Raphael will be on the panel, “The Intersection of Corporate Governance and Criminal Law.” Mr. Durkin will moderate the panel, Health Care Fraud: Providers, Hospitals, and the Affordable Care Act.”
Mr. Kraus serves as Vice-Chair of the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense Practice Group. He is also a member of the firm’s Health Care and Qui Tam Practice Groups. Mr. Kraus serves as Co-Chair of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Criminal Justice Section White Collar Crime Committee Mid-Atlantic Region Subcommittee. He received his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law and his B.A. from Washington and Jefferson College.
Mr. Raphael serves as Co-chair of the firm’s Health Care Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Raphael represents a wide range of clients in the healthcare industry. He represents licensed professionals before licensing boards, credentialing committees, privileging committees and other administrative entities. Mr. Raphael received his J.D., cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. He earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from St. Lawrence University, where he was Phi Beta Kappa.
Mr. Durkin is a partner in the Business/Corporate and Health Care Practice Groups. He concentrates his practice in the areas of Health Law, Corporate Law and Commercial Transactions, assisting clients with navigating the rapidly changing regulatory environment in which they conduct their business. Mr. Durkin received his J.D. from Widener University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.
