PITTSBURGH, PA – Laura C. Bunting joined the Pittsburgh, PA office of the law firm Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP as an associate in the Employment & Labor Practice Group.
Ms. Bunting has extensive knowledge of all stages of Federal litigation, especially Employment & Labor matters. She began her career as a law clerk to the Honorable Arthur J. Schwab, United States District Judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania. As Judge Schwab’s clerk for over five years, Ms. Bunting gained significant experience in the pre-trial process by drafting memoranda on motions to compel, motions to dismiss, and motions for summary judgment. She also conducted pre-trial conferences and assisted the Court in preparing and presiding over a dozen trials, which resulted in a jury verdict. Following her clerkship, she represented individuals in Employment matters while working at a prestigious boutique firm. She has taken and defended numerous depositions and second chaired a trial in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania to jury verdict. Ms. Bunting is a graduate of the University of Virginia’s Trial Advocacy College.
Ms. Bunting earned her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where she was a research assistant to Professor Thomas Ross. During this time, she also studied International Law at the University of Westminster School of Law in London, where she obtained an L.L.M., with Distinction. While studying there, she was awarded the Oxford University Press Award for the highest dissertation score of her class. Ms. Bunting recently served as the University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s Innovation Fellow and co-authored Pitt Law’s Legal Services Incubator Legal Innovations Toolbox, which provides attorneys with resources in outreach and delivery of legal services. She received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh in History and Communications and Rhetoric.
Ms. Bunting is very involved in the local legal community as she was elected chair of the Allegheny County Young Lawyers Division, which represents 1,800 attorneys practicing ten years or less. She has also been selected to serve a three-year term as a Council Member of the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Federal Court Section. Further, she volunteers her time as a member of the Young Business Leaders Board of Family House and the Young Professional Board of the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh. Ms. Bunting has been selected for inclusion in the 2017 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star list.
