Before working at the Federal Defenders’ office, Mr. Roberts was in private practice for a large law firm, where he litigated commercial and criminal cases. Through representing individuals and business entities in a wide variety of matters, he gained exposure to all stages of criminal and civil litigation. In private practice, he also tried cases before juries and judges, argued before appellate courts, engaged in extensive motions practice, negotiated favorable resolutions, and managed large discovery projects.
Mr. Roberts earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School, where he served as the Editor-In-Chief of the Vanderbilt Law Review. He was selected for Order of the Coif, and he was a member of the Moot Court Board and a Teaching Assistant in the Legal Writing & Research program. Mr. Roberts received his M.A. in Creative Writing from Boston University, and his B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania.
