Pietragallo Partner Kevin Raphael will be speaking at the University Risk Management and Insurance Association’s (URMIA) Northeast Regional Conference on April 15th and 16th in Philadelphia, PA.
Mr. Raphael will be one of three panelists, along with Benjamin Evans (Associate Vice President for Risk Management and Insurance at University of Pennsylvania) and Dean Constatine (Global Head of Employment Practices, financial Lines Claims at AIG), on the topic, “What You Need to Know About Current Title IX Regulations.”
Some have criticized the current Title IX regulations as being unfairly burdensome on educational institutions and lacking in due process for the Respondent. The Department of Education’s 2018 proposed regulations sought to remedy these critiques by limiting when educational institutions need to respond to Title IX allegations and by creating significantly more robust notice and hearing procedures beneficial to the Respondent. However the proposed regulations have been criticized by some educational institutions, victim rights advocates, and others as having gone too far, imposing significant additional burdens on the educational institutions and potentially re-victimizing the Complainants.
During this one-hour presentation, panelists will discuss the new regulations, review how they differ from the existing regulations, address case studies, discuss potential litigation risks, and review how insurance companies may respond.
