Pietragallo attorney Angela Velez will be presenting at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s symposium “Hate – A Legal Symposium Exploring the Legal and Societal Consequences 2023” August 10, 2023. Angela will be speaking on the panel “Antagonism – Discrimination Based on Race and Ethnicity”.

This program will feature multiple panels each focusing on a different facet of hate, and the societal and legal consequences of this emotion. The panel Angela will be sitting on will discuss how past practices can still influence how people fare under today’s legal system despite changes; how the nation’s history affected immigrants differently; how current laws and court opinions related to civil rights and discrimination positively or negatively affect communities, individuals, and the system as a whole; and how hatred and discrimination can be countered or minimized.
