Pittsburgh Student Innovation Competition Sponsorship

November 16, 2016

The Pietragallo Firm was a proud sponsor of the first annual Pitt/CMU Student Innovation Competition held by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA). The event was held in conjunction with Carnegie Mellon University’s Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship and the University of Pittsburgh’s Innovation Institute.

The Student Innovation Competition was a kick-off to Carnegie Mellon University’s Entrepreneurship Week and the University of Pittsburgh’s Innovation Week.  The event saw eight teams – four from CMU and four from PITT – pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. The technologies presented included: automated robotic vertical farming, a case that integrates multiple diabetic management devices into one easy-to-use instrument, robotic shoes for faster mobility and a low pressure, lightweight and portable oxygen delivery device.

Congratulations to the winners of the Pitt/CMU Student Innovation Competition.

Pietragallo has donated their time and expertise of intellectual property legal services to one of the winning teams to help their early stage company begin the essential process of identifying and securing potential patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights. Each winning team has the opportunity to choose a donated service provided by the sponsored business partners, based on the start-ups relevant needs. We look forward to working with one of the teams to help create another successful venture from one of Pittsburgh’s world-class Universities.
