Shannon L. Voll
SHANNON L. VOLL is a senior associate with Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP and a member of the Litigation Defense, Health Care Litigation, and Federal and State Qui Tam Litigation Practice Groups.
Her practice consists of defense litigation in a variety of areas, spanning medical malpractice defense, health care fraud litigation, personal injury, issues faced by fraternal organizations, and commercial trucking accidents.
Ms. Voll started her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Houston, Texas, gaining extensive trial experience. She then served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas, where she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Texas Attorney General’s Office for her efforts in the area of gun violence reduction. The U.S. Attorney subsequently named Ms. Voll as the Project Safe Neighborhoods Coordinator, where she led the entire district’s gun violence reduction initiative, trained law enforcement at both the local and national levels, managed 15 federal grant recipients, directed a media campaign, and produced a firearms laws educational video for inmates and parolees.
Ms. Voll spent her last couple of years as an AUSA prosecuting bank fraud, insurance fraud, and mortgage fraud before specializing in health care fraud. Directly working with Program Safeguard Contractors, Ms. Voll gained valuable insight into Medicare and Medicaid regulations, pharmaceutical drug diversion, the False Claims Act and anti-kickback regulations. She is familiar with the issues faced by the medical profession with regard to billing, coding, claims forms, fraud and abuse and compliance matters. She has represented a variety of heath care entities and professionals including nursing homes, psychologists, psychiatrists and chiropractors.
Outside of health care litigation issues, Ms. Voll has a wide-ranging practice consisting of representing fraternal organizations, defending personal injury lawsuits, and representing commercial trucking organizations. She is a member of USLAW and a local point of contact for the Transportation Group. She has lectured locally on corporate compliance, document retention and e-discovery issues.
Ms. Voll obtained her law degree from the University of Houston School of Law, where she was an Executive Justice on the Board of Advocates. She earned her undergraduate degree from Penn State University.
Her community service involvement includes serving as Vice President of Pittsburgh Young Professionals, a non-profit organization seeking to provide career-minded individuals with opportunities to develop socially, professionally and civically. She is also a Barrister in the W. Edward Sell American Inn of Court.
Ms. Voll is admitted to practice in the state courts of Pennsylvania and Texas and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
