Julie Fields Sweeney
JULIE FIELDS SWEENEY is a member of the firm of Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP specializing in complex commercial and product liability litigation.
Mrs. Sweeney’s practice is focused on defense-based litigation of product liability cases, business and commercial litigation, professional liability and medical device litigation. She has extensive trial experience with a specialty in handling complex pre-trial, trial and post-trial motions.
She has represented manufacturers of business machines, power tools, consumer products, automobiles, industrial equipment, medical devices and manufacturers in the food and beverage industry.
She served as trial counsel in the case resulting in the landmark Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision which held that a hospital and a physician could not be held strictly liable for injuries caused by defects in products incidental to medical treatment.
Mrs. Sweeney is a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College and received her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where she was a member of the Journal of Law and Commerce Law Review. Mrs. Sweeney is the author of an article published in the Journal of Law and Commerce, Vol. 5: 1, “Sale of Business Doctrine - An All or Nothing Proposition.”
She is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania courts, the United States District Courts for the Western and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
