P. Brennan Hart
P. BRENNAN HART is a partner in the firm. He serves as co-chairman of the Professional Liability Practice Group and co-chairman of the Defense Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Hart has a broad range of legal experience. He has served as statewide and regional counsel for a number of clients. His experience includes handling of a number of high-profile cases in addition to cases that involve either catastrophic or mass injuries. He also evaluates cases for excess insurance carriers.
His practice focuses in the area of professional liability, including the following fields: medical, legal, accounting, architects, engineers, contractors, agents, brokers and directors and officers. Mr. Hart also handles cases involving products liability, employment practices, coverage, transportation, and fraud investigations.
Mr. Hart serves as a hearing officer for the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He also has been designated as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in the area of defense litigation.
Mr. Hart received his law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Ohio State University. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Pennsylvania, as well as the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Allegheny County. He has been involved in defense litigation for more than twenty-five years. Prior to joining Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP, he was one of the managing partners of one of Pittsburgh’s oldest defense litigation firms. He also opened and then managed the Pittsburgh office of a multi-state defense litigation law firm.
Mr. Hart has been elected to the Judiciary Committee of the ACBA and has been a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers for more than twenty years. He is a trained mediator and has served as a court-appointed Special Master in state court and arbitrator in federal court. Mr. Hart has been invited by clients to speak before industry groups on a variety of topics.
He is also active in community affairs and has served on boards and advisory committees for a number of local charities, including serving as former Chairman of the Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, and Co-Chair of the 2008 NKF Transplant Games. He has been elected to serve on the Board of Governors of the Duquesne University School of Law Alumni Association for 2009-2011.
