Sean B. Epstein
SEAN B. EPSTEIN, a partner with Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP, is involved with the firm’s Risk Management and Workers’ Compensation Practice Groups. He concentrates in the areas of employers' liability, litigation oversight and post-loss risk management of claims for both insurance carriers and industries.
Mr. Epstein has specialized expertise in the Federal Black Lung Act, as well as extensive experience in representing defendants in all forms of occupational disease and toxic tort claims. He routinely cross-examines medical experts in all matters of medico-legal issues, with a focus on occupational disease claims.
He is admitted to practice before the state courts in Pennsylvania, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Third and Fourth Circuit Courts of Appeals. He is a member of the American and Allegheny County Bar Associations.
Mr. Epstein is a cum laude graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law, where he was an Associate Editor of the University of Dayton Law Review. He received Best Brief Award and First Place Award in the Walter H. Rice Moot Court Competition. He was a member of the National Appellate Moot Court team and was elected to the Order of the Barristers. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
He has published an article in the Pittsburgh Legal Journal entitled “Harle: Are We Back to Compensating Earning Loss?”. Mr. Epstein has also lectured locally and nationally on federal occupational disease litigation and the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act. He has also lectured to both employers and insurance carriers regarding medico-legal issues and claims management issues.
Mr. Epstein was selected by his peers as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Rising Star for 2007 in the area of Workers’ Compensation.
