Anthony J. Basinski
ANTHONY J. BASINSKI is special counsel to Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP and is a member of the Litigation Defense and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups and the Construction Practice Consortium. His practice focuses in securities law, general commercial litigation and construction litigation.
Mr. Basinski has extensive litigation experience before federal and state courts as well as various arbitration tribunals. He has handled matters involving securities fraud, personal injuries, wrongful discharge, construction and commercial contracts, including software licensing agreements. He has represented electric power plant operators in several construction-related matters.
Mr. Basinski graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he was the Comment Editor of the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. While at the University of Pittsburgh, he worked as a research assistant to Dean W. Edward Sell in the publication of a law school textbook entitled Sell On Agency (Mineola, New York 1975). Mr. Basinski also earned his B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, where he received highest honors in English and History.
Admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Pennsylvania, Mr. Basinski is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations and he has served as an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. He also has been appointed as a Neutral Evaluator and Mediator for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. For several years, Mr. Basinski has been named as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer and was also recognized by that publication in its Corporate Counsel edition for Business Litigation.
Mr. Basinski has been an invited lecturer on the topic of releases for terminated employees. He has also published articles on the attorney-client privilege, RICO, construction litigation, repetitive stress injuries caused by computer keyboards, the damages available in computer litigation and the confidentiality of settlement agreements.
Mr. Basinski is active in his parish and has served as General Counsel for the Emmaus Community, a non-profit organization providing group living arrangements for mentally-challenged adults.
